Characteristics

• E903, Cera Carnauba
• Carnauba wax is a purified wax obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian tropical palm Copernicia cerifera (Aruda) Mart. (syn. Copernicia purnifera (Muell.)).
• Improves the stability of emulsions. Co-emulsifier.
• Its main components are fatty acid esters (80-85%), fatty alcohols (10-16%), acids (3-6%) and hydrocarbons (1-3%).
• It is characterized by the content of glycols (about 20%), hydroxyl fatty acids (about 6%) and cinnamic acid (about 10%).
• Raw material for the production of cosmetics.
• It has a melting point between 82 and 86 °C.
• Soluble in oils at approx. 80-86°C

Use

• Carnauba wax is used for its characteristic gloss in furniture waxes, shoe creams, food and cosmetics.
• It provides a cohesive consistency and is used as a co-emulsifier in cosmetic products.
• It has water-repellent properties.
• It creates a gentle protective film on the skin.
• It is the hardest vegetable wax.
• It mainly consists of esters with a long chain of fatty acids (approx. 85%).
• It is used in solid body butters, protective emulsions, hair conditioners, mascaras, lipsticks, makeup and lip balms.
• Dosage 1-10% in balms and lipsticks, 1-5% in emulsions.
