W450 is a designation for quality cashews of a smaller size, which are delicious and mix well. They are therefore ideal for preparing cashew butter, cashew milk, but also raw cakes or cashew cheese.

Cashews are a great source of energy and protein (15.3g per 100g) and also contain heart-healthy omega-3 and omega-6 unsaturated acids. At the same time, they contain fiber and are among the nuts with the lowest fat content (46.9 g in 100 g). They are popular among health food enthusiasts and vegans, who use them to make cheese alternatives and as a base for raw cakes.

Cashew nuts contain important substances for the healthy functioning of the human body, such as magnesium (292 mg per 100 g), iron (6.68 mg per 100 g) and zinc (5.78 mg per 100 g).

How to enjoy cashews

Cashews are good on their own, but you can enhance their flavor by roasting them in a pan or in the oven. Add them to your morning porridge or make homemade granola from them. Cashews can be used to make cashew butter, cashew milk, cashew cheese, the basis of raw cakes, but they are also excellent in salads and for thickening vegan soups.

Where cashews grow

Cashew nuts are the fruit of the western kidney tree, which originally grew in Brazil. Today it is also grown in Vietnam, Nigeria, Tanzania, India and Indonesia. The tree needs heat and a high altitude of around 1000 m and grows to a height of 12 m. One tree can produce up to 50 kg in one year, but it takes up to 8 years for a proper harvest of delicious cashews.
