Characteristics

• We offer high quality damar resin. Dammar or Gum Dammar is a light, yellowish, easily fissile resin from Southeast Asia with a smooth fracture.
In Malaysia, it is said to stimulate the creation of a good mood and clarify thoughts. It is suitable for removing depression, sadness and melancholy.
Dammar has a subtle lemony and light scent. The resin is slightly harder than pine resin and is only partially soluble in alcohol and ether.
In contrast, damar resin is easily soluble in turpentine oil, chloroform, carbon disulfide or petroleum ether.
Dammar resin or dammar is a resin from Malayo-Indian deciduous trees. They grow mainly on the Sunda Islands. There are various species of these trees, of which the most important source is the Shorea wiesneri (Shorea) tree.
The name of this resin comes from Malay and means resin or torch.
Other names are: Canarium strictum, Canarium prostatum Schiffn, cat's eye resin, Shorea wiesneri Schiffn.
Melting point 70 - 125 °C

Production of napkins

• To make wax napkins, dose 1 part Dammar resin to 5 parts beeswax.

How to make a wax napkin for a snack for children for school?

• Cut 6 squares of lightweight, woven cotton, 300 x 300 mm
You will also need: 100 g of beeswax, 20 g of Damar resin or pine resin, 3 teaspoons (15 ml) of jojoba oil
Pour the wax into an old pot, crush the resin in a mixing bowl and add to the wax. ** No need to chop or crush; it will still work, but it's much easier if the pieces are small.
Dissolve everything, ideally in a water bath and mix. Once the waxes have melted, pour in the oil and mix. Apply a cloth napkin and allow to dry thoroughly.
Iron between 2 sheets of parchment paper.
