Production of oil from pumpkin seeds

• The production of pumpkin oil mainly requires patience and experience. We need 30 to 50 pumpkins for one liter of oil.
• After cutting the pumpkin, the seeds are removed, washed and dried. They are then ground into a dough-like paste.
• Pumpkin oil gets its typical dark color from the skin of the seeds, the inside of the seeds is white.
• The so-called "seed cake" (mass of ground seeds) is immediately transferred to the kneading machine with the addition of a little water and salt.
• Now begins the most difficult part of production - roasting. The cake is heated until the water has completely evaporated. This precipitates the seed protein and separates the pumpkin oil.
• During roasting, the oil also acquires its characteristic taste and aroma. The roasted cake is now placed in the hydraulic press. The pressure is increased slowly to give the oil time to flow out.
• Fresh pumpkin oil needs to rest for a while before bottling.

Use

• The excellent distinct taste of pumpkin oil from roasted seeds goes well with potatoes, legumes, soups and hearty salads.
• TIP: If you decide to store the oil in the refrigerator, we recommend removing the bottle a few minutes before use. This is how its taste and aroma are best used.
