So come and try making two great toothpastes with us, which contain only natural and healthy ingredients, which will make your teeth beautifully shiny, your gums calm and your breath fresh. And that's not all, the process is so simple that it takes less time to make than going to the store, and homemade pasta will definitely please your budget. We see no reason not to give it a chance!

Why natural toothpaste?

After reading a few professional articles on dental hygiene, it became clear to me what is better to skip when brushing my teeth. And since it is not at all easy to find toothpaste that meets the conditions in the store, the choice fell on home production. Many brands of dental cosmetics include in their product formulas:

Sweeteners: Sorbitol, saccharin and other artificial sweeteners are often found in toothpaste to make it taste better. Unfortunately, there is no evidence that these ingredients are beneficial (or even safe) for the oral cavity. On the contrary, xylitol has been found in some studies to have a good effect on teeth and gums

Triclosan: a chemical used in antibacterial soaps and preparations that has been found to have a negative effect on the proper functioning of the heart. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is currently testing triclosan to see if it is at all safe for human use

Surfactants: many toothpastes contain surfactants that create foam in the mouth. But these substances can irritate the oral cavity or even cause ulcers

Fluoride: guaranteed to be the most discussed ingredient in toothpaste. Some do not allow him to be allowed, others avoid him as a matter of principle. Harvard University also recently came out with the fact that fluoride is responsible for a reduced IQ in children (source), another study supports that the consumption of fluoride leads to weakening of bones, reduced thyroid activity, deterioration of metabolic function or even dementia

Glycerin: an ingredient as much speculated about as fluoride. Glycerin can be found in most toothpastes. It is a sweet, colorless liquid that, according to some research, remains on the teeth and creates a layer on them, through which the saliva that provides minerals to the teeth cannot reach the teeth. So, if you desire to remineralize your teeth, try omitting the glycerin

In addition, toothpastes often contain artificial dyes, aromas and flavors. Enough with the theory, let's dive into the recipes.

Remineralizing toothpaste

The remineralization of tooth enamel, a process that most dentists previously thought was impossible, is becoming more and more talked about, and the number of articles and various studies devoted to this topic is increasing. But let's take it briefly.

If you are serious about remineralizing and regenerating your oral cavity, there are two essential steps you must take: increase the mineral levels in your body and saliva by adjusting your diet and using a toothpaste that will supply and secure minerals to your tooth enamel. The first step is up to you, we will be happy to help you with the second today! Here's a simple recipe for a mineral-rich toothpaste that, because it contains no fluoride, is suitable for children and babies and people with thyroid disorders.

What will be needed?

- 5 parts lithothamnium: lithothamnium is a ground sea race that contains an exceptionally high amount of minerals, especially calcium, it is used for the mineralization of the organism, so as an ingredient in our paste as created

- 1 part diatomaceous earth (not necessary - it contains trace minerals and quartz, it is slightly abrasive)

- 2 parts of baking soda (you can leave it out, it is not good for some people because of its higher abrasiveness!)

- 3 parts xylitol: xylitol, or birch sugar, is an excellent tool for fighting tooth decay. That being said, xylitol has been shown in many studies to remineralize tooth enamel and even bone itself. But if you don't want to use any sweetener and don't mind the bitter taste of the paste, feel free to leave it out

- 3-5 parts coconut oil

- Other optional ingredients: popular essential oils for flavor (mint, cinnamon, clove and orange are great), myrrh, which is used in folk medicine to heal oral cavity inflammation, or Himalayan salt

- Glass jar or bottle

- Bowl, spoon

How to do it?

If necessary, heat the coconut oil in a water bath until it is completely liquid. If you are using ingredients that are not finely ground, xylitol, myrrh or Himalayan salt, grind them to a really fine powder.

Thoroughly mix all loose ingredients (seaweed, diatomaceous earth, xylitol, myrrh and other dry ingredients) in a bowl.

Gradually add the coconut oil to the mixture until you reach the desired paste consistency.

Add essential oils and other optional ingredients to make the paste delicious.

Transfer to a glass container.

TIP: The amount of paste made depends on you, to measure the parts, choose the amount that suits you. So one part can be both a tablespoon and a teaspoon.

Whitening paste with activated carbon

You must be thinking we are crazy. Charcoal in toothpaste? We know it sounds crazy, but yes, we're really talking about a scary-looking pitch-black toothpaste with activated charcoal here. If you want bright teeth, you should try this paste, it is completely natural, without toxic ingredients and most importantly, it really works!

What is activated carbon?

Activated (wood) charcoal is charcoal with extremely high porosity, which is specially processed in such a way that the surface of the carbon molecules in it is increased up to a hundredfold. Does it sound complicated? So simply put, charcoal naturally has great absorption capabilities, activated charcoal is an improved form of it that can boast super, super, super great absorption capabilities.

And that's what makes activated charcoal an exceptional helper in teeth whitening, because it can remove stains from teeth like no other substance (it literally pulls dirt out of teeth). Add to that the fact that activated carbon is very slightly abrasive, so it can grind the teeth very gently. You don't need anything more for beautifully white teeth.

What will be needed?

- 2 tablespoons of high-quality activated carbon

- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

- 1 spoon of xylitol

- 5 drops of peppermint or other essential oil

- A glass, container or any container

- Bowl, spoon

How to do it?

Proceed in the same way as when making the previous toothpaste.

If the coconut oil is solid, slowly heat it in a water bath until it is completely liquid. Make sure all the ingredients are finely ground.

First, mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix them thoroughly.

Slowly pour the warmed coconut oil into the mixture and drop in the required amount of essential oil.

Blend until the paste is lump free, then simply transfer to your chosen container.

TIPS

Try first applying the paste (a pea-sized amount) to your gums with a clean finger and massaging them in. Then brush your teeth as usual with a damp toothbrush. Rinse your mouth and brush your teeth again using a pea-sized amount of the paste. Clean this way twice a day or additionally, for example, once a week.

If you don't like peppermint, use any other essential oil, lemon works great and tastes great too.
